During the months of September, October and November of 2008 Antigua and Barbuda received large amounts of rainfall. With this large amount of rainfall in a short period of time the ground becomes saturated with water and any extra rainfall over Antigua and Barbuda automatically runs off the land. In these cases usually dry waterways such as Christian Valley and Wallings automatically become the natural course for extra runoff of water. In these circumstances there are a few waterways that become waterfalls, one of which is Christian Valley. Please see the attached photographs.
The Environment Division will be conducting activities in the month of November in commemoration of Arbor Month. The highlight of the celebrations will be a Plant Fair which will be held on 20th November 2008 in the Victoria Park (Botanical Gardens). The Environment Division will be exchanging plants for a small contribution of five plant bags or a bucket.
The Environment Division will be providing space on the day of the fair for the display information on plants. The underlying message of Arbor Month this year is that we should plant more trees.
